Lewis Tools was by far our most challenging client—not because of them, but because of us. Whipping out industrial packaging for a hand-held concrete mixer to be sold in Home Depot would require us to leave our comfort zone of entertainment, political satire and irreverently-posed Barbie dolls.

The Lightning Pro Concrete Mixer was an asymmetrical, pound-and-a-half, three foot-long tool used to mix concrete (we nicknamed it the “self-cleaning zombie killer”). Its irregular design meant it would hang cockeyed from a POP display, and the client’s budgeted printing price per unit seemed prohibitively low at first. We set out to ameliorate all of these challenges and create the most impactful design and cost-conscious solution approved by the client. We succeeded in doing just that.

We enjoyed the process, and it reminded us that when given the creative latitude by a client and supported by an outstanding packaging print house such as SquarePeg San Diego, you can pull off just about anything.
